Demographical Structure of Sikkim


                "Great destination addressed as the jewel in the crown " .... sikkim , 
 a small  state in size but is amply compensated by sheer generosity of beautiful nature. The world's third highest peak at 8598 Meters Kanchenjunga can be viewed from here. Gangtok , Sikkim is an independent Buddhist state that virtually  thrives on tourism. The sikkim government t offers a taste of variety of crusine and tourism adventure. Sikkim also offer a fun-packed voyage of adventure and discovery, if you can want to  undertake trekking, boating Rafting, Mountaineering or Mountain Hiking each of them can give its due. Sikkim is an island of peace with negligible crime rate. Sikkim is one of the 26 Bio-Diversity hot sports, a veritable treasure house of some of the worlds most beautiful streams, high altitude Lakes and Waterfalls. 

   Sikkim is located in at 27.33 Degree North and 88.61 Degree East in our universe. Annual Rainlfall  2000 MM – 4000 MM.  Teesta and Rangit are main river in Sikkim . Sikkim’s lower hills altitude is 270 Meter – 1500 Meter, Middle level Hills altitude  range is 1500 Meter – 2000 Meter., Higher level hills altitude range is 2000 Meter – 3000 Meter and alpine forest Zone altitude range is above 3900 Meter.

Area :-  7096 Square Kilometers. ( 0.22 % of area of India) .

Population :- Total population 6,07,688 , Male - 288,217 and Female 252,276 (As per Census 2011 0.05 % of the total population of India).

Sex Ratio :- 875 Female per 1000 Males.

Density of Population :- 76 per Square KM.

 West District- 1166 Sq. KM. Gyalshing, South District- 750 Sq. KM. and Namchi, North District- 4226 Sq. KM.

                           Climate :-  
Climate is different Sikkim and divided by Tropical, Temperature and Alpine zone. This area is heavy fall from effect of bay of Bengal. The average rainfall is 500 CM. The maximum temperature available in July – August and minimum temperature is available December-January month. Lower altitude zone temperature is  4.5 to 18.5 Degree and higher altitude temperature is 1.5 – 9.5 Degree and temperature varies from with altitude and slope of landscape. 
Five different altitude zone divided by   climatically :-

Tropical Range Below  610 Meter.
Subtropical                       610 to 1524 Meter.
Temperate 1524 to 2743 Meter.
Sub-Alpine                       2743 to 3962 Meter.
Alpine                             3962 to 5182 Meter.

The annual rainfall in Thangu is 82 MM in North Sikkim and East Sikkim Gangtok is 3494 MM. North and West Sikkim is very little rainfall is an average 4.9 MM. This area maximum time is snow cover area. The highest annual rainfall is sometimes  may be exceed 5000 MM and per day rainfall average  2.5 MM . 

         ANIMALS :-   
Himalayan Black Beer , Himalayan Marmot, Snow Leopard, Musk deer, Barking Deer, Bhoral, Tahr, Serow, Goral, , common langur,  Clouded Leopard, Wild dog, Tibbetian Wolf, Hog badger and jungle Cat.

                     Entry Formalities for Foreign Tourists :-

Individual tourist along with group tourist can visit Gangtok, Rumtek, Phodong and Pemayangtse in Sikkim  for 15 days and Group minimum 4 persons can only.
visit Dzongri  in West Sikkim for 15 Days for the purpose of trekking. Permit can be obtained from :-

4. Guthon Chaam - Held at Rumtek Monastery, Two days prior to Tibetan New year, February or March month.
